birth doula support
philosophy
As a birth doula, my role is to provide families with support in all its varying forms throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and the early postpartum period. This support may look like sharing resources, talking through options and decisions, facilitating a partner’s physical and emotional support of the birthing person during labor, gentle reminders about your preferences during birth, a referral out to care beyond my scope, or sitting on your couch with you as you become comfortable feeding your newborn.
All support is based on trusting relationships, communication, evidence, and experience - holding space for families to determine their needs, and then using knowledge, intuition, and a professional network to meet those needs.
Together, we gather and process information about childbirth and your needs, then build confidence & skills enough to honor the strength and knowledge of the birthing body. With this confidence, birthing people and partners are empowered to trust their intuition and advocate for themselves, holding space for preferences, realistic expectations, and flexibility as they prepare for birth and parenthood.
